Video: Arsenal 2-1 Cardiff: Lacazette on target as Gunners make hard work of it
Arsenal made hard work of beating a poor Cardiff City side as we laboured to a 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium this evening.
The first half was woeful as we barely got out of first gear and struggled to create anything of note other than a couple of half chances – although Alexandre Lacazette should have had a couple of penalties.
However, we finally got a spot kick midway through the second half when Sead Kolasinac was chopped down in the box. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slotted home for 1-0 in the 66th minute.
We had to wait until the 83rd minute to double our lead as Lacazette fired home a lovely low effort to make it 2-0 but once again Arsenal failed to see-out a clean sheet as Cardiff pulled one back in stoppage time.
It was a lovely goal from Nathaniel Mendez-Liang but it was hugely disappointing not to get a morale-boosting clean sheet. Anyway, we held on to secure a 2-1 win which moves us level with Chelsea in fourth.
