Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Leeds Utd: Havertz & Madueke start for Gunners
After a prolonged international break, Arsenal are finally back in action today as we welcome Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium for the 12:30pm kick-off.
Mikel Arteta will be desperate to get back on track after the shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton just before the break. We were truly awful at the Amex Stadium so the squad are under pressure to respond with a positive display on home soil today.
David Raya starts between the sticks once again while Ben White lines-up at right-back with Jurrien Timber among the substitutes. William Saliba is still working his way back to full fitness but Ezri Konsa is fit to start alongside Gabriel Magalhaes after shaking off a knock that he picked up while away with England.
Riccardo Calafiori gets the nod at left-back with Piero Hincapie having to make-do with a place on the bench.
Declan Rice was given a much-needed rest during the break so he should be recharged in central midfield this afternoon. Myles Lewis-Skelly is handed a start in the middle of the park so Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi are among the subs.
Martin Odegaard is fit to start and captain Arsenal today after recovering from a minor ankle knock sustained with Norway. However, Christos Tzolis has been ruled out for a few weeks so Noni Madueke starts on the left flank.
Bukayo Saka was among the goals while away with England and he lines-up on the right wing today. Eberechi Eze is on the bench along with Max Dowman and Mikel Merino.
Kai Havertz suffered a hamstring issue while playing for Germany but he’s passed fit to start up front today so Viktor Gyokeres misses out despite his excellent goal-scoring form for Sweden.
These are the teams:
Arsenal
Raya; White, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Havertz, Madueke
Subs: Kepa, Timber, Hincapie, Zubimendi, Guimaraes, Eze, Merino, Dowman, Gyokeres
Leeds Utd
Trafford; Elvedi, Muharemovic, Justin; Bogle, Stach, Ampadu, Tanaka, Gudmondson; Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.
Subs: Zetterer, Bard, Bijol, Gruev, Longstaff, Aaronson, Wilson, Bahoya, Nmecha
