Arsenal in fierce battle to sign Eduardo Conceicao
Arsenal are reportedly in a fierce battle over a deal to sign Palmeiras forward Eduardo Conceicao, as per Caught Offside.
Despite selling Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard this summer, the Gunners decided to purchase only Christos Tzolis. So, Mikel Arteta has used Eberechi Eze on the left flank to support the Greek this season.
However, Eze is more comfortable centrally, while Tzolis sustained an injury on international duty earlier this month and is set to remain sidelined for a few weeks.
Arsenal reportedly attempted to seal an ambitious swoop to bolster the left side of the attack this summer as Vinicius Junior, Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola were linked with a move.
However, they failed to buy any of them. As a result, it appears Arsenal have started looking at targets to strengthen the frontline next year.
Caught Offside claim that the Emirates club are interested in Conceicao and have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.
However, Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to seal the deal as Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also in this race.
Conceicao to Arsenal
The report state that after being found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations, Man City might struggle to finalise the operation. However, Chelsea have already made contact to place themselves at the front of the queue in this race.
Conceicao is still just 16 and won’t be able to join a European club before he turns 18, which he will do in December 2027. He still has a contract until 2029 at Palmeiras, and they want around £85m[€100m] to sell him.
However, the Brazilian side might ultimately opt to lower the price tag and could accept around £51m, which Chelsea paid to sign Estevao Willian.
Conceicao is considered one of the best young forwards and is a technically gifted right-footed left-winger. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they sign him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
