Video highlights: Arsenal 4-2 Vorskla: Aubameyang nets double in Europa win
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Arsenal opened their Europa League campaign with a 4-2 victory over Vorskla at a half empty Emirates this evening.
Arsenal were extremely slow out the blocks and we barely mustered a chance on goal before opening the scoring in the 32nd minute. Henrikh Mkhitaryan found Alex Iwobi down the left and he crossed for Aubameyang to side foot home in to the bottom corner.
We made it 2-0 just minutes in to the second half as Mkhitaryan’s cross was met by Danny Welbeck who glanced a neat header in to the net in the 48th minute.
If the win was in any doubt, Aubameyang made it 3-0 seven minutes later with the Gabon hitman curling home a superb effort before Mesut Ozil came off the bench to poke home a fourth at the far post.
Annoyingly, we couldn’t secure our first clean sheet of the season as sloppy defending led to Chesnakov firing in to the top corner from 18 yards before Vorskla scored with the last kick of the game to make it 4-2 through Vyacheslav Sharpar.
