Arsenal handed triple injury boost ahead of Atletico Madrid clash
Arsenal have been handed a triple injury boost with Mesut Ozil, Petr Cech and Jack Wilshere all taking part in training ahead of our clash with Atletico Madrid.
We welcome the Spanish giants to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening for the first leg of our Europa League semi-final and it seems the trio will all be available for selection.
Ozil missed Sunday’s 4-1 victory over West Ham due to another bout of illness but the German international was back in full training at London Colney this morning so should be fit to face Madrid.
Wilshere has missed the last two games due to an ankle injury but the midfielder is also expected to be return against Atletico and his availability comes as a good time with Mohamed Elneny ruled out with an ankle problem.
Elneny sustained the injury against West Ham at the weekend and is facing a race to play again this season so Wilshere’s return to fitness is vital ahead of the Europa League semi-finals.
In a triple boost, Cech is also set to return in goal tomorrow night after recovering from a minor hip injury that prevented him from playing at the weekend.
David Ospina kept goal against the Hammers but Cech is likely to be recalled as it looks like Wenger will go with his No.1 in the Europa League having previously opted for the Colombian.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan continued his comeback from a knee injury by training away from the full squad today but the Armenian international has a chance to be fit for the second leg in Spain next week.
