Arsenal preparing to submit ‘economically tempting’ offer to sign Morgan Rogers
Arsenal are preparing to submit an ‘economically tempting’ offer to Aston Villa to sign Morgan Rogers this summer, according to Fichajes.
Arsenal are anticipated to be heavily involved in the transfer market this summer as they look to provide Mikel Arteta with the resources needed to build on their Premier League triumph.
The North London club ended a 22-year wait for a league title under the Spaniard and are intent on strengthening further as they seek to maintain their superiority next season.
They have been linked with several targets across various positions. In the attack, Morgan Rogers has consistently been mentioned as a player of keen interest to Arsenal.
Rogers enhanced his growing reputation by being named Player of the Tournament in the Europa League last season after inspiring Villa to their first major piece of silverware since 1996.
In a recent report, Arsenal Station, citing Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, reports that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Rogers on a contract until 2031 and are set to initiate club-to-club talks with Villa.
It appears the Gunners are now set to approach the Europa League winners, as reports via Fichajes reveal that the north Londoners are preparing to submit an ‘economically tempting’ offer to Villa to sign Rogers this summer.
‘Absolute priority’
The report adds that Arsenal have earmarked the 23-year-old as the ‘absolute priority’ target to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad next season.
Rogers’ ability to play across the frontline and in the middle is appealing to the Premier League champions, who are eager to integrate him into their team to form one of Europe’s most formidable attacks, according to the report.
However, while personal terms may reportedly have been agreed, signing him would be difficult, as Fichajes, citing reports, claims that Villa values the Englishman in the same market bracket as other midfielders, set at £103m, and will not budge below £86m amid keen interest from Arsenal.
While concerns could be raised over where he would fit into Mikel Arteta’s squad, the uncertainties surrounding Martin Odegaard, who turns 28 in December, mean he could step into the attacking midfield role should the Norwegian depart, although he will have to compete with compatriot Eberechi Eze for a starting spot.
He can also operate effectively on the left wing amid reports of keen interest in Leandro Trossard, making him a dynamic and tactically fitting profile for Arteta next season.
