Video: Arsenal 4-1 West Ham: Lacazette scores brace as Gunners sink Hammers
Alexandre Lacazette scored twice as Arsenal beat West Ham 4-1 at the Emirates this afternoon in Arsene Wenger’s first game since announcing he’s leaving this summer.
It was surprisingly subdued among the crowd at the Emirates given Wenger’s announcement on Friday and the players also struggled to get themselves going in the first half.
We eventually opened the scoring shortly after the break when Nacho Monreal found the back of the net with a well hit volley from a Granit Xhaka corner in the 51st minute.
West Ham responded well and grabbed an equaliser in the 64th minute as Mark Arnautovic fired a powerful strike past David Ospina after we failed to clear our lines.
However, we grabbed the important second goal in the 82nd minute when the Hammers failed to deal with an Aaron Ramsey’s cross and it found it’s way in to the back of the net for 2-1.
Some lovely play on the edge of the area involving Danny Welbeck and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang led to Alexandre Lacazette’s firing home for 3-1 before the Frenchman added another in the 89th minute following excellent work from Ramsey.
Here are the goals:
