Video: Crystal Palace 2-3 Arsenal: Sanchez scores classy brace for Gunners
Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in an exciting game at Selhurst Park this evening.
For once we actually started well and opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Shkodran Mustafi scored from a tight angle with a lovely finish after Alexandre Lacazette’s shot was parried.
We had further chances to extend our lead as Mesut Ozil went close twice to make it 2-0 but Speroni made one superb save to deny the German playmaker.
In typical Arsenal style, we let Palace back in the game as some poor defending allowed Wilfried Zaha to cross for Andros Townsend who fired home the equaliser in the 50th minute.
The Arsenal players responded well and re-took the lead less than 15 minutes later when Alexis Sanchez lashed home in the 62nd minute before making it 3-1 minutes later as he raced on to a stunning long-range pass from Jack Wilshere to slot past Speroni.
Palace brought it back to 2-3 in the 89th minute when James Tomkins headed home from a corner but we held on to secure a much needed win that moves us to within one point of Liverpool.
Here are the goals:
