[Player Ratings] Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham: Ozil & Mustafi outstanding for Gunners

By on November 18, 2017

Arsenal produced our best performance of the season to beat Tottenham 2-0 at the Emirates and claim the North London Derby bragging rights.

Shkodran Mustafi opened the scoring with a lovely header before Alexis Sanchez settled things with a second just before half time as we eased to a fully deserved victory.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  7/10 | Wasn’t called upon too often but did make a couple of decent saves to ensure a clean sheet.

Koscielny  8/10 | A real captains performance from Kos. Kept Kane quiet and didn’t put a foot wrong defensively.

Mustafi  8.5/10 | Outstanding return to the side. Superb header to open the scoring and made a vital block to deny Kane. Made a huge difference having him back in defence.

Monreal  7/10 | Another solid and unspectacular display from our reliable Spaniard.

Bellerin  7.5/10 | A constant threat down the wing and pinned Davies back in his half for long periods. Played his part in the second goal.

Xhaka  7/10 | He was well up for this match and adjusted his game after collecting a first half booking. Kept the ball moving well.

Ramsey  7/10 | Played some clever through balls and worked his socks off. I said this game hinged on Ramsey working to protect Xhaka and dominating the midfield and it’s fair to say we won the battle.

Kolasinac  7/10 | Another decent shift from the powerful full-back. Solid at the back and wasn’t afraid to get forward.

Sanchez  8/10 | Wonderful control and finish to make it 2-0 and was always a danger when on the ball. Worked hard and fought for the shirt, which is all we can ask in a derby. Should have scored at least one after the break.

Ozil  8.5/10 | Excellent display. Got his assist for Mustafi’s opener and was involved in some superb moves but his work-rate was simply exemplary. Worked his nuts off. Why can’t he do it every game!?

Lacazette  7.5/10 | Lovely movement and made some excellent runs. Didn’t give the Spurs defence a minutes rest and created Sanchez’s goal.

Subs:

Coquelin 6/10, Iwobi N/A

This was arguably our best performance of the season and it was a delight to see the players working hard and battling for every ball. The goals may have been slightly fortunate but we deserved some luck and were worthy winners today.
