Video: Arsenal 1-2 Watford: Poor Gunners slump to Hornets
Arsenal wasted a golden opportunity to close the gap on Chelsea after one of the worse 45 minutes in recent memory led to a 2-1 defeat to Watford tonight.
It was yet another nightmare start as a Kaboul free-kick deflected off Ramsey to wrong-foot Cech and flew in to the net for 0-1 in the 10th minute.
We just couldn’t string two passes together and some shocking defending allowed Capoue to waltz through the defence, Cech saved his shot but the rebound fell kindly to Denney who tapped home for 0-2 after 13 minutes.
The players came flying out the blocks after the break and after missing a few chances we eventually halved the deficit when Sanchez did superbly to set-up Iwobi who volleyed home for 1-2 in the 56th minute.
However, we couldn’t keep it up and Perez came closest to finding the equaliser when he smacked the crossbar late but we couldn’t force another goal so slumped to a shocking 2-1 defeat.
Chelsea have just drawn at Liverpool so it was the perfect chance for us to close the gap to six points ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge but we bottled it.
