Arsenal’s latest new recruit, Takuma Asano, scored twice for Sanfrecce Hiroshima at the weekend shortly after his impending move to north London was confirmed.
We announced last week that we’ve agreed a deal to sign the Japanese youngster once the J-League season is over and Asano was unveilled as a press conference where he posed with an Arsenal scarf.
The 21-year-old was in action on Saturday night and showed Arsenal fans a glimpse of what he’s capable of after getting himself on the score-sheet twice during a 4-2 loss at home to Kashima Antlers.
With Hiroshima already 2-0 down, Asano pulled one back with a lovely finish shortly after half-time before he grabbed another in the 82nd minute with a superb finish in to the top corner.
He may not be the world class striker we’re all waiting for, but Asano looks to be a bright talent and hopefully he can enjoy a year or two out on loan before trying to force his way in to Wenger’s first team plans at Arsenal.
