Arsene Wenger Offers Update On Last Minute Transfer Plans
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given an update on his last minute transfer plans as we enter the final few days of the summer transfer window.
There has been endless speculation in the newspapers over the course of the summer but Petr Cech remains our only significant new addition – much to the frustration of many Arsenal fans.
With the window set to close on Tuesday evening, many are still hopeful that the boss will pull a late deal out of the hat with a striker top of most people’s wish-list.
Speaking after today’s 1-0 win over Newcastle, Wenger confirmed he is still in the market and is ready to do business IF a top class player becomes available in any position but says he’s not sure if something will happen before the window slams shut.
Arsesen told Arsenal.com:
on transfers…
We are open and we are in the transfer market. If we find an exceptional player in any sector, we will do it. At the moment I don’t know if something will happen or not.
I think it’s safe to say that unless we manage to bring in a world class striker over the coming 48 hours, we can forget about winning the Premier League title this season as it’s been made more than apparent already this year that we need another option up front.
It’s a big risk from Wenger to leave it so late but fingers crossed he can pull something out the bag or we’ll be also-rans again this campaign….
