Well that was f*cking awful. A completely abject performance from Arsenal and a surprisingly poor debut from Petr Cech led to a 2-0 defeat to West Ham this afternoon.
All the hype before the game was over a possible title tilt after signing Cech this summer, but the former Chelsea keeper had a day to forget as he gifted the Hammers the opening goal after completely missing Payet’s 43rd minute free-kick. Kouyate heading home into the empty net.
It got worse just after the break when Zarate smashed into the bottom corner from 25 yards – this time Cech was wrong footed to allow the ball to nestle into the bottom corner.
We were tame in attack and couldn’t find a way back in to the game, so slumped to a disappointing opening day defeat.
