RATINGS: My Ratings From Arsenal’s 3-1 Win Over West Ham
Arsenal came from behind to ease past West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park this afternoon. Theo Walcott helped himself to a brace while Lukas Podolski came off the bench to grab an assist and a goal as we move back to the top of the table ahead of Man City’s clash with Liverpool.
Here are my ratings:
Szczesny 6/10 – Made a couple of routine saves but he dropped a howler for the opener. Noble’s shot was straight at him and he should have held onto it.
Sagna 7/10 – Was given some trouble from Jarvis early on but was a real attacking outlet as we took control of the game, although his crossing was inconsistent.
Mertesacker 7.5/10 – Superb last ditch tackle/clearance to deny Cole midway through the first half and the German won the majority of his duels all afternoon.
Vermaelen 7/10 – Another competent display from the skipper. Looks pretty comfortable alongside Per.
Gibbs 7/10 – Was solid defensively and was keen to get forward. Linked up well with Podolski when he came on.
Arteta 7/10 – His poor clearance played it’s part in their goal but otherwise the Spaniard controlled the game.
Ramsey 6/10 – Played a superb pass over the top to find Walcott who fired wide in the first half but was a little below par before being forced off with a thigh injury.
Cazorla 8.5/10 -His best display of the season. Played a stunning pass to send Podolski clear but German saw his shot saved, and he pulled the string’s all game. Was particularly impressive in the second half.
Walcott 8/10 – Missed the first good chance of the game, firing wide when he really should have scored and lost possession cheaply which led to the West Ham opener. However, you can’t deny he’s a real threat going forward and turned the game on it’s head with a quick-fire brace including a header(!).
Ozil 7.5/10 – Some may disagree with this rating but Mesut was a real threat when he was on the ball, and created 8 opportunities for his team-mates, including being involved in the third.
Giroud 5.5/10 – Another off-day in front of goal. Missed some great chances to score, particularly in the first half. He did grab an assist for the third goal but looks like he needs a rest.
Subs:
Podolski 8/10 – Superb cross for Theo’s second goal and sealed the win with a lovely finish. Great to have him back, he could make a real difference over the second half of the season.
Flamini 6/10 – On to shore things up during the last 10 minutes.
Bendtner 6/10 – Only on for a matter of minutes but almost grabbed a fourth goal.
An impressive comeback and we head to Newcastle on Sunday back to winning ways. Hopefully Rambo’s injury isn’t too serious.
What were your thoughts from the game?
