Arsenal close-in on 3rd summer signing, deal could be agreed today

By on July 28, 2017

It looks like Arsenal are closing-in on making their third signing of the summer as the Express are reporting that we are on the verge of signing Thomas Lemar from Monaco.

We’ve been strongly linked with a move for the French international in recent weeks but Monaco have proven extremely difficult to deal with as they try and keep what’s left of their title-winning squad together.

Leonardo Jardim has seen several of his team sold-off this summer and it looked like they were determined to keep hold of Lemar after rejecting two offers from Arsenal.

However, the Express are citing a report from The Sun that claims we’ve made a breakthrough in negotiations and are now closing-in on a £45m deal.

The newspaper says personal terms have already been agreed with the 21-year-old and Lemar is hoping to have the deal wrapped-up today ahead of Monaco’s Trophee des champions clash with PSG in Morocco tomorrow.

Who knows how much truth there is behind this report as there is so much speculation circulating these days and The Sun’s claim is contrary to other reports that suggest our £45m bid has been rejected [via the Mirror].

However, I think we’re going to get a deal for Lemar agreed in the end and he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad as he’s developed in to one of the most exciting young attacker in Europe over the past two years.

He scored 14 goals and set-up a further 17 for his team mates last season to help Monaco win the title and he’s got the potential to develop even further at the Emirates.

Should we get a deal over the line then Lemar will become our third major signing of the summer following the arrivals of left-back Sead Kolasinac and striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Signing better quality players is good.Arsenal were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea. The thing is they took along time to shoot. Imho, too many passes and overplaying which could play into the hands of teams playing on the swift counter.
Btw,Goals of the season show how teams score. Regrettably Arsenal are taking a long time to unleash their shots at goal. I hope I am wrong but if the gunners over pass and over play, they could be in serious trouble.

How gullible you are. Thomas Lemar is not coming to Arsenal. Better to sign Jean Michael Seri who is available and more importantly a position we need ie a Santi Cazorla play alike. He is really good and is a really signable player. Wasting a fantasy fake news

Monaco don’t want to sell out all their better players. Yet they’ve just sold two to man city and one to man united. The best of them all, mbappe may soon head to real Madrid. In the mean time arsenal have spent all summer chasing Thomas lemar, in fact according to reports all three bids made by arsenal have been rejected by monaco. My question, is it that lemar is the most important player to monaco that they could not let go or that arsenal have refused to value the player adequately just like man city and man united did to get their men? If arsenal truly want lemar as we have made to believe, why don’t they go out there and pay monaco what they want to get their man.We arsenal fans are made to go through this torture of continuously adding 5m pounds to every bid as if one was buying groundnuts in the market. I think by now even monaco are bored and amused. Arsenal, go out there, pay the right price for lemar and get him to the Emirates. Put a smile on the faces of your fans. Our EPL rivals are going to trample upon us once again.

I believe the best way to go about transfers is to work silently and secretly.U don’t come out and give the world every detail of ur intended transfers. This approach by arsene is archaic and unfruitful.Knowing the needed quality signings in the various areas, he should have finalised them by now.Wake up Arsene!

If there was a manager who never puts transfer business out in the public sphere, it is Arsenal FC’s Arsene Wenger. However, it is beneficial to the Agents and selling clubs to leak information about interest so as to start a bidding war. Sometimes, you find a club/Manager who share the same values about confidentiality and deals are sealed away from the media attention. Koscielny, Holding, Kolasinac, Giroud, Reyes, Sol Campbell are a few transfers that surprised the media.

In my opinion Monaco are over valuing lemar and Mbappe. Am getting vexed at Wenger already. Why stick to this imbecilic idea of’i must buy lemar when a plethora of fantastic lads are there begging for buyers like arsenal. Oh mahrez, who did this to you?

Look. Lemar is younger and is a bit more versatile than Mahrez. He would be a longer term investment, so the emphasis is on him. If he’s a no-go then we go for Mahrez who is a tested Premier League veteran with proven ability. Simple. Now, can we get Carvalho, a 6′ 2″ dominator, or Seri, a quick little 5′ 5″ bunny. Both have their positives and their drawbacks.

wenger is aware that there is no way he’s gonna sign lemar..what he has done to him is more than enough and he’s now just raising up our hopes to think that we are going to sign this fantastic player lemar but the truth is he is not going to sign and he is waiting for sanchez to come and upon.his arrival he’ll say “i think we are a betther theam andhie we are ready for the season” he is just buying time waiting for sanchez…..wenger too boring!….put the money on the table!

Arsenal should simply go for Mahrez.and stop this dilly dallying before other serious club take him away.William Cavalho or seri can join and complete the set up for the season.Monaco doesn’t want to sell Lemar to Arsenal full stop.

We fans are now tired of rumours, all i know about Wenger is that he is not going to sign lemar but the fact is that arsenal needs two more signing and that is DM and a winger.
