Arsenal eye move to sign Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, as per Football London.

After being impressed by the 20-year-old’s performances for Lorient, the Cherries decided to purchase him in January last year, but he didn’t move to the Vitality Stadium until the summer.

The youngster enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Premier League last term, scoring 13 goals in 21 starts. He even has a tendency to step up in big games, scoring against Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Following his recent eye-catching performances, Kroupi attracted a lot of attention this summer, but no team ultimately decided to make a move after his serious injury.

Now, Football London state that Arsenal are considering reinforcing the frontline in January and have expressed their interest in Kroupi. Moreover, Mikel Arteta’s side are interested in Brentford star Kevin Schade.

With Kroupi’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Bournemouth are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in and TEAMtalk claim that they want around £100m.

Kroupi is expected to return from his foot injury before November; therefore, the North London club are planning to buy him in mid-season. Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez is also on Arsenal’s radar, and they could make a move for him in the winter window.

Kroupi to Arsenal

Kroupi is a striker by trait but can provide cover in the second striker role if needed. He is quick, can finish off his chances and has an eye for scoring goals from distance.

Following Gabriel Jesus’ departure, Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as striker options. However, having displayed inconsistent performances since joining from Sporting CP last summer, Gyokeres has been struggling to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up this season.

On the other hand, Havertz has had fitness problems in recent months. Therefore, Arsenal could do with signing a new striker. Kroupi is a talented player and showed glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League last term.

So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services in January.
