Arsenal in fierce battle to sign Man Utd’s JJ Gabriel

Arsenal are reportedly battling with European giants over a deal to sign Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel, as per Football London.

After winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners decided to sign Illan Meslier, Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis and Ezri Konsa this summer to refresh the squad and continue the momentum this season.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side decided to part ways with Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. Meaning, the Spanish boss currently has fewer attacking options than he had last term.

Arteta has been using Eberechi Eze to support Tzolis but the Englishman is more comfortable centrally. Still, Arsenal have enjoyed a stellar start this season, winning all seven matches across all competitions.

Now, Football London state that under new academy director Pascal de Maesschalck, Arsenal have been signing highly talented young players in recent years and have already secured the services of Victor Ozhianvuna, Holger and Edwin Quintero, Andria Bartishvili and Igor Tyjon.

They are looking to add more youngsters to their academy and have expressed their interest in Gabriel. Arsenal are short on options on the left flank, and Gabriel might be able to find first-team football if he moves to the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta has given youngsters game time in recent times, with Max Dowman and Marli Soloman featuring in domestic cup competitions. However, the report state that Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to sign Gabriel as Manchester City and Barcelona are also keen on him. Gabriel is ready to leave Old Trafford and has asked for his registration to be cancelled.

Gabriel to Arsenal

Gabriel is a right-footed, technically gifted forward. He is comfortable on the left flank and in a creative midfield position. The 15-year-old is highly talented and possesses the potential to become a world-class forward.

Arsenal and Man Utd have traded young players in recent years, with Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi moving to Old Trafford from the Hale End. On the other hand, the Emirates club have recently signed James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye.

Gabriel would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his services.
