Arsenal interested in signing Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Although the Gunners won the Premier League title last term, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli displayed inconsistent performances. So, Mikel Arteta decided to part ways with the duo this summer.

After letting Trossard leave, Arsenal purchased Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a promising start this season, registering four assists in seven appearances across all competitions.

The Greek international has helped his side win the Community Shield and has guided them to win all four Premier League matches thus far.

However, despite selling Martinelli, the North London club decided not to sign a new left-winger before the deadline. Arteta has been using Eberechi Eze on the left flank to support Tzolis.

However, on his YouTube channel, Romano states that Arsenal are exploring the possibilities of purchasing a new left-winger next year and have identified Ngumoha as a serious option.

The Emirates club are prepared to make a move for the 18-year-old if he becomes available. However, with his existing deal set to run until 2028, Liverpool aren’t in any rush to sell him and have opened talks to extend his contract.

Ngumoha to Arsenal

The journalist claims that if Ngumoha eventually leaves Liverpool, several clubs around Europe would make a move, alongside Arsenal, as he is considered one of the best young forwards in the world.

Ngumoha is a right-footed left-winger by trait but can provide cover on the opposite side if needed. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and can finish off his chances.

Ngumoha, valued at around £19m by Football Transfers, has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent times and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.

Meanwhile, apart from Tzolis and Eze, Noni Madueke can also provide cover on the left flank for Arsenal, although the former Chelsea man is a left-footed right-winger by trait.
