Arsenal are reportedly maintaining contact over a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu from Brazilian side Santos, the 25-year-old has enjoyed great success over the years, winning three La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies and numerous other major cup competitions.

Having proven his worth in club football, the forward secured his place in the Brazilian national team. However, having sustained a serious knee injury, he has been sidelined over the last few months.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that after being impressed by Rodrygo’s performances for Real Madrid, Arsenal identified him as a serious option to strengthen the left flank.

However, following his injury, the Gunners decided not to make a move for him this summer. After selling Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal have bought only Christos Tzolis. As a result, Mikel Arteta’s side want a new left-winger next year and remain keen on Rodrygo.

The report state that Arsenal made contact with Real Madrid to sign Vinicius Junior in the recently concluded transfer window but the Brazilian ultimately decided to stay at the Spanish capital by extending his deal.

However, the Emirates club remain in contact with Los Blancos but regarding Rodrygo this time around. They have even been holding talks with the player’s representatives to persuade him to join.

Rodrygo to Arsenal

Rodrygo’s rehabilitation from the serious knee injury has been progressing well and he has already started running on the grass. He is hoping to return before the end of this year and Arsenal are planning to make a move in January.

The South American is valued at around £39m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his current contract. So, Real Madrid might be open to cashing-in on him next year.

Following Yan Diomande’s arrival this summer, the Spanish giants are currently well stocked in the frontline. Rodrygo is a left-winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side.

Furthermore, he can provide cover centrally if needed. Rodrygo is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
