Arsenal are set to travel to Portman Road Stadium to face Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup third-round fixture tonight.
After winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners have enjoyed a stellar start this season, winning the first six matches across all competitions.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently at the top of the Premier League table, with Manchester City sitting second on goal difference.
On the other hand, having gained promotion, Ipswich Town have enjoyed a bright start under new manager Gary O’Neil this season, winning two out of the first four league matches. They have reached the third round of the Carabao Cup after beating Leicester City 3-1 in the previous round.
Team news
Having remained sidelined for several months, Jurrien Timber returned to action against Sunderland last weekend. But Ben White has sustained a fresh injury and is unlikely to be involved tonight.
William Saliba is set to remain sidelined for several months due to a back problem and isn’t in contention to feature in this game. On the other hand, Cristhian Mosquera started the first three games of this season but has been out since picking up an injury vs Aston Villa last month.
Predicted line-up
Arteta is expected to make a few changes to the starting line-up for this Carabao Cup encounter. So, Kepa Arrizabalaga should get the nod to commence in goal, while David Raya and Illan Meslier might be among the substitutes.
Ezri Konsa should keep hold of his place in the centre-back position, and Piero Hincapié might start alongside the Englishman at the back for the visitors.
Timber is likely to be in the right-back position, while Myles Lewis-Skelly could be on the opposite side. Therefore, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori should get a midweek break.
Martin Zubimendi, valued at around £64m by Transfermarkt, is expected to be the deep-lying playmaker, and Bruno Guimaraes could commence alongside the Spaniard in the engine room.
Mikel Merino might be deployed in the CAM role for Arsenal; therefore, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard should feature as substitutes if needed.
Noni Madueke is likely to start on the right flank, while Eberechi Eze would be on the opposite side. Viktor Gyokeres is set to be leading the line for the Gunners, so Bukayo Saka, Christos Tzolis and Kai Havertz would be among the substitutes.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Ipswich Town
Arrizabalaga; Timber, Konsa, Hincapié, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Guimaraes, Merino; Madueke, Gyokeres, Eze
