Arsenal plot swoop to sign Bournemouth’s Alex Scott

By on June 24, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, as per the Daily Mail.

After winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners are willing to add more firepower this summer to continue the momentum over the coming years.

Arsenal are said to be planning to purchase a new midfielder despite already having Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard. Moreover, Myles Lewis-Skelly can provide cover in this position if needed.

However, Norgaard failed to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up last term, while Merino struggled with fitness problems. Zubimendi even faded away during the climax stage of the last campaign.

Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Now, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal are also interested in Scott and have been tracking him closely.

However, the Gunners will have to overcome stiff competition to finalise the operation, as Manchester United have also been keeping a close eye on him.

The Red Devils are keen on purchasing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United, but Tottenham are also pushing to secure his services. So, it appears United have identified Scott as a potential alternative option in-case they fail to buy the Portuguese.

Scott to Arsenal

Ideally, Bournemouth don’t want to part ways with Scott and are willing to tie him down to a fresh term, with his existing deal set to run until 2028. However, if they are forced to cash-in, they want around £60m.

After moving to Vitality Stadium from Bristol City, the 22-year-old initially took time to settle into his new surroundings before showcasing his best in the Premier League last term.

He made five goal contributions across all competitions and helped his side qualify for next season’s Europa League by finishing sixth in the league.

Scott is a dynamic box-to-box midfielder and possesses the potential to reach the top. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium during this offseason.
