Arsenal now eyeing move for Club Brugge fullback Joaquin Seys

Arsenal have expressed interest in signing highly rated Belgian fullback Joaquin Seys from Club Brugge this summer, as per The Sun.

Seys began his career at Oostende before joining Brugge’s academy in 2012, where he came through the ranks.

After impressing in the academy, he made his senior debut in a 2-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Super Cup on July 20, 2024.

Most notably, he netted on his Jupiler Pro League debut days after in a 1-1 draw to KV Mechelen and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most exciting fullbacks not just for Brugge but across Belgium.

In the recently concluded 2025-26 campaign, the 21-year-old was ever-present in the Blauw-Zwart lineup, featuring in 51 games across all competitions, netting five goals and providing eight assists, with his performances catching the eye of several clubs, including Arsenal.

This is according to The Sun, which claims that the Premier League champions have expressed interest in signing Seys from Brugge this summer.

The report adds that the Gunners scouts have handed Mikel Arteta a detailed analysis on the Belgian, believing that his qualities are a fit for the manager’s style of play due to his defensive solidity and creativity upfront.

Exciting fullback

After scouting him extensively, it appears Arsenal are now stepping up efforts to sign Seys as The Sun adds that the north London giants have made formal enquiries over the possibility of the six-cap Belgian international transferring to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Amid interest from the Gunners, Brugge will be looking to get full value for their prized asset, and it’s no surprise the report adds that Belgian champions have placed a £30m valuation on Seys.

However, Arsenal are set to face stern competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, as well as Portuguese giants Benfica and Porto, according to the report.

Mikel Arteta currently has Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Piero Hincapié as left-back options in his squad.

However, Arteta has been utilising Lewis-Skelly in midfield since the latter stages of last season, while doubts also remain over his long-term future at the Emirates due to the likelihood of limited playing time, especially with Bruno Guimaraes joining.

In addition, Calafiori and Hincapié are natural centre-backs, which indicates the manager may be exploring a more specialist left-back option, making Seys an ideal fit for that role.
