Arsenal interested in signing Marcus Rashford

By on June 17, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as per a recent report.

Although the Gunners won the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta last season, they didn’t appear to be a particularly fluid attacking side, relying heavily on set-pieces for goals.

The North London club scored only 71 goals in the Premier League, while Manchester United netted just two fewer, despite their inconsistent performances last season.

Arsenal bought Viktor Gyokeres to address their No.9 problem, but he struggled to showcase his best consistently. On the other hand, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard also performed inconsistently last term, scoring seven Premier League goals combined.

Martinelli and Trossard have entered the final year of their current contract, and they have been linked with a move away in this transfer window. The Belgian is even edging closer towards the twilight of his career.

So, it appears Arsenal are considering reinforcing the frontline this summer. As per a recent report (via TEAMtalk), Arteta’s side are interested in Rashford and could make a concrete approach over the coming weeks.

However, the Gunners will have to overcome stiff competition to finalise the operation as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also plotting a swoop.

Rashford to Arsenal

The 28-year-old joined Barcelona on loan last summer and displayed promising performances. However, the Blaugrana have decided not to purchase him permanently by triggering his £26m buyback clause.

So, he is set to return to Old Trafford, but Michael Carrick’s side don’t want to keep him due to his enormous wages and are prepared to cash-in on him. It has even been suggested that Rashford has a £40m release clause in his current contract, and that can’t be triggered by only Liverpool and Manchester City.

Rashford is a versatile forward as he can play anywhere across the frontline. He previously showcased his qualities in the Premier League, and after rejuvenating his career at Camp Nou, he has regained his place in the England national team.

The forward is currently at the prime stage of his career and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually opt to secure his service ahead of next season.
