Arsenal showing ‘genuine’ interest in signing Gordon

By on April 22, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly showing ‘genuine’ interest in signing Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, as per Football London.

The Gunners decided to reinforce the right flank by purchasing Noni Madueke last summer, while they bought Viktor Gyokeres to strengthen the centre-forward position.

Mikel Arteta even signed Eberechi Eze, but he has predominantly featured as a creative midfielder amid Martin Odegaard’s injury absence.

So, Arsenal currently have Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli as options to deploy on the left flank. However, both the Brazilian and the Belgian have struggled to show consistency.

Trossard is set to turn 32 later this year and is set to enter the final year of his current contract this summer. Therefore, it appears the North London club have started exploring options to strengthen the left flank.

Now, Football London state that Arsenal are showing ‘genuine’ interest in signing Gordon and could make a formal proposal during the offseason.

Apart from the North London club, Bayern Munich are also interested in the 25-year-old, while Liverpool were previously linked with a move for him.

With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Newcastle are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in and have slapped a £75m price tag on his head.

Gordon to Arsenal

With Newcastle set to miss out on Champions League football next season, it has been suggested that they need to raise funds by selling stars to add new faces this summer.

Gordon is a left-winger by trait but is also efficient in the centre-forward position. Although the Magpies have displayed inconsistent performances this season, Gordon has showcased his productivity, scoring 17 goals and registering five assists across all competitions.

After proving his worth in club football, the forward has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in taking penalties, and also works hard without possession.

Gordon is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer.
