Arsenal plan to launch swoop to sign Enzo Le Fee
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The 26-year-old initially moved to the Stadium of Light from AS Roma on loan in January last year before the deal became permanent ahead of this campaign.
The Frenchman helped his side gain promotion last term before showing glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League this season. In 33 appearances across all competitions, he has netted five goals and registered four assists.
Moreover, Le Fee has been guiding his side to push for a European place finish in the English top-flight, sitting only three points behind seventh-placed Brentford.
Now, Fichajes state that after being impressed by the Sunderland star, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him. Mikel Arteta values the midfielder’s technical prowess and his intelligence in ball circulation.
As a result, the Spanish boss is ‘enamored’ with the player and has identified him as a ‘priority target’. Arsenal could therefore make a concrete approach to secure his services during the offseason.
With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2029, the Black Cats are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in on him this summer and have slapped a £43m price tag on his head.
Le Fee to Arsenal
Le Fee is a technically gifted creative midfielder by trait, but is also efficient in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he can provide cover in the double midfield pivot role if needed.
Although the former Roma star isn’t blessed with speed, he can play threading passes between the lines, is efficient in creating opportunities for the attackers, and is composed in taking penalties.
He is a talented player and has shown glimpses of his qualities this season; moreover, he is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, Le Fee might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him, especially given that Martin Odegaard has struggled with fitness problems this season.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in the upcoming summer transfer window.
