Predicted Arsenal line-up against Manchester City
Arsenal are set to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners will be coming into this game off the back of a comfortable 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last-16 second leg.
On the other hand, the Citizens lost their Champions League game against Real Madrid 2-1 and have won only one of the last five matches across all competitions.
Arsenal haven’t won a trophy since lifting the FA Cup in Mikel Arteta’s first season as manager back in 2020. So, they have an opportunity to finally overcome their trophy drought.
Team news
Mikel Merino remains sidelined due to his injury problem, while there are question marks over the availability of Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber. Moreover, Eberechi Eze picked up a knock in midweek, and it remains to be seen whether he can feature this weekend.
Predicted line-up
Although Kepa Arrizabalaga has played all the domestic cup matches thus far this season, David Raya might get the nod to start in goal in this fixture.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are expected to be the centre-back pairing for the Gunners, while Piero Hincapié might be the left-back. So, Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly would have to make do with a place on the bench.
If Timber can’t feature, Cristhian Mosquera could start in the right-back position ahead of Ben White, who started vs Leverkusen.
Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice are set to be the midfield pairing, while Eze is likely to keep hold of his place in the creative midfield position. So, Christian Norgaard would have to settle for a place on the bench.
Bukayo Saka would be on the right flank, and Leandro Trossard should be on the opposite side. In that case, Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke may feature as substitutes if needed.
Viktor Gyokeres is expected to lead the line for the North London club in this crucial fixture, and Kai Havertz should be involved as a substitute. Gabriel Jesus is likely to continue on the bench.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Man City
Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapié; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Saka, Gyokeres, Trossard
