Predicted Arsenal line-up against Sunderland

By on February 7, 2026

Arsenal are set to welcome Sunderland to the Emirates Stadium for a crucial Premier League encounter this afternoon.

Following a thumping 4-0 victory over Leeds United, the Gunners have established a six-point lead at the top of the table. They will be coming into this game following midweek’s slender 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.

On the other hand, the Black Cats have enjoyed a stellar campaign thus far after gaining promotion last term, sitting eighth in the table with 36 points from 24 matches. Liverpool are sixth with just three more points.

Regis Le Bris’ side even managed to come away with a 2-2 draw against the North London club in the reverse game at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.

Team news

Mikel Merino is set to remain sidelined for an extended period after fracturing his foot, and Bukayo Saka isn’t in contention to feature in this game after picking up a hip problem during warm-up against Leeds last weekend.

Moreover, Martin Odegaard was out in midweek due to a minor issue and is in doubt this weekend.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is set to return to goal following a midweek breather, so Kepa Arrizabalaga would have to settle for a place on the bench.

Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba are set to be Arsenal’s centre-back pairing, while Jurrien Timber and Piero Hincapié should be the two fullbacks. Therefore, Cristhian Mosquera, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, and Myles Lewis-Skelly would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice are expected to be the midfield pairing, while Kai Havertz could get the nod to start in the creative midfield department after scoring the winner vs Chelsea. So, Eberechi Eze may feature off the bench.

Leandro Trossard is likely to be on the left flank ahead of Gabriel Martinelli, and Noni Madueke should be on the opposite side for the Gunners amid Saka’s absence.

Gabriel Jesus might start in the centre-forward position; in that case, Viktor Gyokeres could feature off the bench if needed.
