Arsenal confirm Saliba, Timber and Calafiori fit for Leeds
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defenders William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are all fit ahead of the Premier League clash against Leeds United.
The Gunners are set to travel to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon to face Daniel Farke’s side in a key league fixture.
Arteta revealed that both Timber and Saliba will return to the squad after missing Arsenal’s recent Champions League tie against Kairat Almaty.
Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta addressed the condition of his players.
“They are OK, obviously they have been playing a lot of minutes,” Mikel said on Friday morning, “they’ve been carrying a few niggles.
“It was a really good opportunity (against Kairat) to offload them a little bit and refresh them.”
The pair will provide defensive stability as Arsenal aim to maintain their strong league position.
Calafiori Back in the Squad
On Calafiori’s return, Arteta highlighted the impact of the full-back on the team.
“Richy has been instrumental, especially in the way we attack.
“He has unique qualities to occupy spaces and to create things that probably the qualities of the other full-backs are different. So when we need them, they will be there.
“Now he’s fit, he’s available and we’ll have to wait and see when we can use him.”
The Italian defender’s return will add attacking options on the flank.
Arsenal will be hoping to make the most of their available squad against Leeds United.
The Gunners aim to secure maximum points to either maintain or extend their four-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
Arteta’s squad now has more flexibility with the return of these key defenders. Their inclusion could prove vital as Arsenal look to sustain their strong form for the remainder of the season.
The returning defenders give Arteta more options both defensively and in supporting attacks down the flanks. With a full complement of players, Arsenal hope to keep their title challenge on track.
The Gunners will be keen to take full advantage of their squad depth in the upcoming match.
Arsenal fans will be hoping the returning players can contribute to another positive result against Leeds.
