Following a disappointing 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last weekend, Arsenal are set to travel to Giuseppe Meazza Stadium to take on Inter Milan in the Champions League tonight.

The Gunners are at the top of the table in Europe’s elite club competition, having won all six matches. They are the only team to achieve that feat this season and need to avoid defeat tonight to secure their place in the round of 16, thereby avoiding the extra playoff round.

On the other hand, the Nerazzurri are currently sixth in the table with 12 points but lost the last two matches against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Inter defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the league game in the Champions League last term.

Team news

After recovering from his ankle problem, Cristhian Mosquera was in the matchday squad last weekend. So, he should be ready to be involved in this game.

Piero Hincapié and Riccardo Calafiori have been out injured in recent matches, and they didn’t train ahead of this match, meaning they are unlikely to be ready for tonight.

Predicted line-up

Although this is a big game, Mikel Arteta might look to make a few changes to his line-up as they are almost guaranteed to finish in the top eight, while also keeping an eye on next weekend’s important match against Manchester United.

Nevertheless, David Raya is set to be between the sticks, while Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba are likely to continue as the centre-back pairing.

Ben White may keep hold of his place in the right-back position, while Myles Lewis-Skelly could get the nod to start on the opposite side for the Gunners. So, Jurrien Timber might get a breather.

Martin Zubimendi should keep hold of his place in the deep-lying playmaker position, with Mikel Merino likely to be the box-to-box midfielder. Eberechi Eze could be in the creative midfield position; in that case, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard would feature off the bench if needed.

Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka started on the bench last weekend, but they should return tonight, while Gabriel Jesus is expected to be the centre-forward for Arsenal ahead of Viktor Gyokeres. Therefore, Kai Havertz may feature as a substitute.
