Gabriel Martinelli apologises after late clash with Bradley
Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has publicly apologised to Liverpool’s Connor Bradley following a late incident in the 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
The incident happened in the 94th minute when Bradley went down after an injury. Martinelli unintentionally struck him with the ball.
Afterwards, the Arsenal forward pushed Bradley off the touchline, which drew reactions from players and pundits alike.
Martinelli has since taken to social media to express his regret over the incident.
Writing on his Instagram page, the Arsenal forward said, “Conor and I have messaged and I’ve already apologised to him. I really didn’t understand he was seriously injured in the heat of the moment. I want to say I’m deeply sorry for reacting. Sending Conor all my best again for a quick recovery 🙏”
The Arsenal player emphasised that he did not realise the seriousness of Bradley’s injury at the time.
He acknowledged his reaction was wrong and expressed hope for Bradley’s speedy recovery.
Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on Bradley’s condition to assess whether he will be fit for upcoming fixtures.
Arne Slot’s side is already dealing with a number of injuries to key players, and will be hoping to avoid another long-term injury.
Arsenal remain top but focus shifts
Arsenal could not extend their lead at the top of the Premier League after failing to beat Liverpool. The Gunners remain six points clear of second-placed Manchester City and Aston Villa.
The result will not slow Arsenal’s momentum as they now turn their focus to the FA Cup third round where they take on Portsmouth on Sunday.
The team will aim to regroup quickly and maintain their winning form in both league and cup competitions.
Manager Mikel Arteta will hope his squad remains disciplined while keeping injuries to a minimum as the season progresses.
The club continues their search for major trophies, as they want to end their six year trophy drought this season.
Liverpool will be hoping Connor Bradley’s injury is not serious and that he will return to action soon.
