Arsenal eye move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke
Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in signing Chelsea forward Noni Madueke, according to fresh reports from The Telegraph.
The Gunners are in the market for new wide players this summer. Manager Mikel Arteta wants to add more depth to his squad ahead of the new season.
Bukayo Saka has been key on the right wing, but Arsenal are looking for someone who can ease his workload. The club also want strong competition on the left.
Madueke has now emerged as one of the names on their list. The 23-year-old winger could be an ideal fit for Arteta’s fast and flexible attacking system.
The English international joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023. He arrived for a fee of around £30million and has grown into a regular in the side.
Madueke scored 11 goals and provided five assists in all competitions last season. His form also earned him call-ups to the England national team.
Chelsea are expected to make changes in attack this summer. They are closing in on the signing of Brazilian forward Joao Pedro from Brighton.
With several options in their forward line, Chelsea are open to letting some players go. Madueke could be one of those allowed to leave.
Newcastle United are also interested in Madueke
Arsenal are not the only club tracking the winger. Newcastle United are also said to be keen on making a move for the Chelsea player.
Madueke is currently valued at around £34million by Transfermarkt. That fee may rise depending on Chelsea’s final stance on his future.
Arteta sees Madueke as a player who can provide strong backup and rotation options, especially in wide areas.
The Gunners will play in the Champions League again next season. They need a deeper squad to cope with the demands of multiple competitions.
A move for Madueke is still in early stages, but interest is growing. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will follow up with a formal bid.
