Arsenal plot swoop to sign Chelsea forward Noni Madueke

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a swoop to sign Chelsea forward Noni Madueke, as per Caught Offside.
The Gunners are looking to remain active in this transfer window to bridge the gap with the English champions, Liverpool. Moreover, Manchester City are also expected to be at their best next season, having already bolstered several areas of the squad before the Club World Cup.
It has widely been documented that Mikel Arteta wants a new centre-forward, with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko their primary targets. Midfield is another position they are looking to refresh with Martin Zubimendi closing in on joining.
Moreover, the North London club want to reinforce the wide areas, and Caught Offside claim that Arsenal identified Athletic Club star Nico Williams as the priority target, but the player is keen on joining Barcelona, while the Blaugrana have been working to secure his service.
So, after missing out on the Spain international, the Gunners have shifted focus to Madueke as the club’s recruitment team believe he would be a very good candidate for Mikel Arteta’s system.
However, purchasing the Englishman won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Napoli, AC Milan, and Newcastle United are also in this season, while the reigning Italian champions have already held talks with Chelsea over this deal.
Madueke to Arsenal
So, Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to seal the deal ahead of their rivals, and the Blues are looking for a fee of up to £56m to let their star man leave with his existing deal set to run until 2030.
However, Enzo Maresca doesn’t see the 23-year-old as the right fit for his long-term project, so the West London club would be open to letting him leave for a reduced fee of around £43m.
Madueke is a versatile forward as he is comfortable playing on either flank. He is a talented player and possesses high potential, but can be inconsistent at times.
Therefore, the question is whether he would be an upgrade to Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. However, Madueke could be a good option to support Bukayo Saka.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to hire Madueke before the start of next season to bolster the frontline.
