Arsenal looking to trump Man Utd to sign Goncalo Ramos

By on May 10, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly looking to trump Manchester United in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, as per Caught Offside.

The 23-year-old burst onto the scene, having displayed eye-catching performances for SL Benfica. After being impressed by the striker, Les Parisiens opted to hire him. They initially signed him on a loan deal in 2023 before making the move permanent in the following year.

Upon moving to Parc des Princes, the Portuguese hasn’t been able to secure his place in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven. Still, he has made 21 goal contributions in all competitions this campaign.

Now, Caught Offside claim that PSG initially wanted to keep hold of Ramos despite his diminutive role in the squad, but they have changed their stance and are ready to cash-in for the right price.

Man Utd are desperate to address their goal-scoring problems by signing a new striker this summer and have earmarked the former Benfica star as a serious option.

Ramos to Arsenal

However, the Gunners are also eyeing a swoop and are ready to trump the Red Devils in this race. Apart from the North London club and Man Utd, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Napoli, and Juventus are also considering making a move for him.

Ramos is valued at around £38m by Transfermarkt and has three years left in his current contract. Therefore, Les Parisiens might demand a big fee to let him leave.

Arsenal want a prolific scorer to finally win the Premier League title and have been linked with numerous names ahead of the summer window.

Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyokeres have all been suggested as potential targets, with Ramos now emerging as a new serious option.

The Portuguese is a talented player and still very young. So, he might be able to turn his future around and reach his full potential in the future, and a change of environment could even help him achieve that.

However, Arsenal need an established striker to win the title straightaway; therefore, Ramos might not be an ideal option. Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
