Arsenal interested in Atalanta star Ademola Lookman
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Atalanta ace Ademola Lookman, as per transfer expert Mike Brown.
After failing to showcase his qualities in the Premier League during the early stages of his career, the Nigerian has managed to flourish since joining La Dea back in 2022.
The 27-year-old guided his team to win the Europa League title last term and even scored a hat-trick in the final. Following that, he was heavily linked with a move in the last summer window but he eventually stayed at Gewiss Stadium.
Now, he has been in fine form this season as well, scoring 18 goals and registering six assists in 30 matches in the Champions League and Serie A. However, he is reportedly set to leave the Italian side ahead of next season.
Now, speaking on Football Insider, Brown says that Arsenal are interested in Lookman and have sent scouts to watch him in action closely this season before making a potential swoop.
The forward could return to the Premier League but he isn’t high on Arsenal’s wishlist to bolster the wide areas.
Lookman to Arsenal
Moreover, the former scout states that Lookman wasn’t convincing enough during his time with Everton or Fulham but he has improved a lot in Serie A. However, consistency has always been an issue for him, therefore, he might not be an ideal option for the North London club.
Brown said:
“Arsenal have had scouts in Italy to have a look at him. He’s going to be available at the end of the season, so a few clubs have been looking at him. I think a return to the Premier League is definitely going to be an option for him, but whether that’s with Arsenal I’m not so convinced.”
Lookman – valued at around £46m by Transfermarkt – is a versatile forward as he can play in the attacking midfield and second striker role. Additionally, he is comfortable in the left flank.
Arsenal are reportedly planning to reinforce the squad this summer to finally win the Premier League title and it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to secure Lookman’s signature ahead of next season.
