Arsenal expected line-up vs Leicester City
Arsenal will face off against relegation-threatened Leicester City at King Power Stadium in the Premier League today at lunchtime.
The Gunners will be coming into this game off the back of a disappointing defeat against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final last week.
Since then, Mikel Arteta’s side got a nine-day break as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United last month. So, they went to Dubai for warm weather training and to recharge their batteries.
Arsenal are currently second in the Premier League table with 50 points from 24 games, sitting seven points behind the league leader Liverpool.
Team news
Bukayo Saka has been out injured in recent times, while Gabriel Jesus’ campaign was already over following a serious knee injury. Now, Kai Havertz has sustained a hamstring issue and as a result, his season is also done.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has been sidelined for the majority of this term and isn’t close to returning yet. Gabriel Martinelli is also unavailable due to a hamstring problem. But, the good news is that Ben White is back and ready after recovering from his issue.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is set to be between the sticks with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes likely to be the centre-back partnership for the North London club.
Jurrien Timber should continue in the right-back position, therefore, White could be among the substitutes. Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to be on the left so Riccardo Calafiori would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Thomas Partey would be in the deep-lying player position, while Declan Rice might be in the box-to-box role, pushing Martin Odegaard in the attacking midfield position. Therefore, Jorginho and Mikel Merino could feature off the bench.
Amid Saka, Havertz, Jesus and Martinelli’s absence, Arteta has been left with Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling as the only attacking options. Therefore, Nwaneri could start on the right and Sterling may be on the left with Trossard in the false nine position for the visitors.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Leicester
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Odegaard, Rice, Nwaneri, Trossard, Sterling
