Following a thumping 6-0 victory over RC Lens in the Champions League, Arsenal will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After midweek’s victory, the North London club have managed to secure their place in the knockout stage of Europe’s elite club competition. So, they will be full of confidence ahead of tomorrow’s game.
The Gunners are currently the table topper in the Premier League and they will be hoping to keep hold of their league leader status by beating Wolves in this game.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Wolves
David Raya should keep hold of his place between the sticks for Arsenal so Aaron Ramsdale will be among the substitutes once again.
William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus are expected to continue at the heart of the Gunners’ backline. So, Jakub Kiwior may have to settle for a place on the bench.
Ben White, who joined the club in a £50m deal, started on the bench in midweek but is likely to return to the starting eleven in this encounter so, Takehiro Tomiyasu might have to make do with a place on the bench despite displaying promising performance last time out. Oleksandr Zinchenko should continue in the left-back position.
Thomas Partey and Fabio Vieira – who is suspended having picked up a red card versus Burnley – will remain sidelined due to their respective injuries and along with them, Emile Smith Rowe is also set to miss out on this game owing to injury problems.
So, Declan Rice should commence in the deep-lying playmaker position, while Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz should start in the box-to-box role. After starting the season slowly, Havertz has showcased his qualities by scoring in back-to-back games and the midfielder will be hoping that he will be able to continue his goal-scoring form in this encounter as well.
Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are expected to be patrolling on the flanks after putting their names on the scoresheet last time out, while Gabriel Jesus should be in the centre-forward position for the North London club having displayed an impressive performance against Lens in midweek. So, Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah will be among the substitutes once again in this fixture.
