Arsenal are set to welcome Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the 194th North London Derby on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have enjoyed a stellar start to this season, winning four of their first five Premier League encounters and sitting fourth in the table with 13 points.
In the meantime, Mikel Arteta’s side have made a grand return to the Champions League by thrashing PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in midweek. So, Arsenal will be full of confidence ahead of this encounter.
However, Tottenham have also enjoyed an excellent start to this season under the new boss Ange Postecoglou’s guidance. So, this game is likely to be a great spectacle for the football fans.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Tottenham
Arteta made the big call against Everton last weekend to start David Raya by dropping Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners boss continued with his compatriot in midweek so Raya is likely to keep hold of his place between the sticks.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are expected to continue as the centre-back pairing, while Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko should be in either fullback position. So, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Declan Rice is likely to be the deep-lying playmaker amid Thomas Partey’s injury absence. Martin Odegaard is guaranteed to continue in his preferred number ten position, but it remains to be seen who will complete the midfield three.
Fabio Vieira – who joined the club in a £34m deal last summer – started in the last league game against Everton, but Arteta opted to go with Kai Havertz in midweek’s Champions League fixture. But, it is expected that the Portuguese will get the nod in this encounter. Jorginho will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka are expected to be patrolling on the flanks, while Gabriel Jesus should keep hold of his place in the number nine position. So, Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah will have to make do with a place on the bench.
Gabriel Martinelli was sidelined in the last game due to a hamstring issue and is expected to remain sidelined in this encounter alongside Jurrien Timber – who has been ruled out for the majority of this season after sustaining a serious knee issue.
