Arsenal lead race to sign Juventus ace Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, as per the Italian outlet La Repubblica.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Serbia international last winter. However, the 22-year-old chose to move to Turin instead and signed for the Bianconeri for a fee of around £65m.

It has previously been reported that despite moving to the Allianz Stadium just 12 months ago, Vlahovic is now open to leaving Massimiliano Allegri’s side and the Serie A giants are ready to cash in on the striker.

According to the report by La Repubblica, Arsenal have been following Vlahovic for a very long time and they are ready to revive their interest in signing the talented forward.

The report further claims that Juventus want a fee of around £97m to let him leave. They are likely to keep hold of their star until the end of this campaign but a summer move is a possibility.

Vlahovic to Arsenal

The report also says that Arsenal are leading the race to sign Vlahovic, however, they are set to face a stern challenge in getting this deal over the line as Bayern Munich are also eyeing a move for him.

The youngster is deemed one of the best young strikers in the world and he possesses high potential so Vlahovic would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal.

However, the Gunners already have enough quality options in the striker position in Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. So, spending the reported £97m fee would be a huge outlay when Mikel Arteta has other areas that need improving first.

The north London club are thin on numbers in the flanks and in the engine room. So, adding more ammunition in those two positions should be the priority. They have intensified efforts to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk in order to strengthen their wings and it remains to be seen who Arsenal will look to sign to bolster their midfield.

Therefore, although Vlahovic would be a very good acquisition for Arsenal, the Premier League leaders should use their money to strengthen other areas rather than splashing close to £100m on another striker.
