Arsenal target Marcus Thuram set to be available for a bargain fee in January

Arsenal target and Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram is reportedly set to be available for a bargain £6m fee in January, as per the German outlet Sport Bild.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a brilliant start to this campaign with the Foals before the club competitions took a pause for the World Cup 2022, scoring 13 goals and notching up four assists in 17 games in all competitions.
Following impressive displays in the German domestic competitions this term, the Frenchman has been handed a call-up to the national team squad for the ongoing World Cup. He featured in two of the three group games for Didier Deschamps’ side so far in this tournament and both of those appearances came off the bench.
Previously Fabrizio Romano stated that Thuram – whose current contract with Gladbach will expire at the end of this season – is likely to run down his deal with Daniel Farke’s side and leave for free next summer. Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the attacker in recent weeks, with the Gunners looking to take advantage of his contract situation.
Marcus Thuram to Arsenal
Sport Bild has now claimed that Gladbach have accepted the fact that the striker is not going to sign an extension and they want to cash in on their star man in January rather than lose him for free next summer.
The report further states that Farke’s side are in no position to ask for a big fee due to the striker’s current contract situation and are now looking to recoup as little as £6m from Thuram’s sale this winter. The news will alert Arsenal but they won’t be alone in this race to sign the Frenchman, as many clubs around Europe and the Premier League are also looking at the forward.
Marcus Thuram – who is valued at around £26m by Transfermarkt – would be a great acquisition for Arsenal if they can get this deal done for the reported sum. The north London club are seemingly exploring the possibility of strengthening their forward line this January and the Gladbach man could be an ideal addition, given he can play anywhere across the front positions.
It has widely been touted that Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to bolster multiple departments this winter. Strengthening one of the key positions for just £6m would help save the budget to fund other targets.
