Following a crucial victory against Aston Villa in midweek, Arsenal will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
The Gunners dominated the game against Steven Gerrard’s side on Wednesday night and achieved a 2-1 victory courtesy of the contributions from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Following this victory, Mikel Arteta’s side remain at the top of the league with a perfect start to the season.
On the other hand, the Red Devils will be coming into this game off the back of a hat-trick of victories. Therefore, despite starting the campaign on a disappointing note, Erik ten Hag’s side are currently only one point behind the fourth-placed Brighton in the table.
Arsenal have enjoyed decent success against United in recent years as the north London club have only lost one of the last eight games against Manchester United in the Premier League. However, the only defeat that they suffered was in this exact fixture last campaign.
Arsenal expected line-up against Manchester United
Aaron Ramsdale sustained a minor knock in the midweek fixture against Fulham but played the whole game. So, he will be assessed ahead of the match but is expected to keep his place between the sticks.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães are set to continue at the heart of the Arsenal defence, while Ben White should commence at the right full-back position.
After starting the first three games, Oleksandr Zinchenko has now missed back-to-back matches due to a knee problem. The Ukrainian could be available for selection in this fixture and in that case, Kieran Tierney might find himself on the bench against Man Utd.
Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny remain sidelined due to thigh injuries and therefore, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka should start once again in the engine room for Arsenal.
Club captain Martin Odegaard also suffered an injury against Fulham and limped off in the second half. So, he is in doubt ahead of this encounter. The final decision will be made about his availability after assessing him ahead of the game. So, if he fails to recover in time then Emile Smith Rowe could make his first start of this season.
Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka will be given the responsibility of stretching the Manchester United backline with their speed and trickery, while Gabriel Jesus will lead the line once again for Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
