Arsenal hold long-term interest in signing Christian Kofane

By on September 1, 2026

Arsenal reportedly hold a long-standing interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Christian Kofane, as per Football Insider.

Although the Gunners won the Premier League title last term and reached the Champions League final, they struggled to score goals from open play. So, it was thought that they would look to sign a few top-class forwards this summer.

They were linked with numerous names, with Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior being among them. However, Rogers has joined Chelsea, while Vinicius Junior has decided to stay at Real Madrid by signing a fresh term. Moreover, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez has been suggested as a serious target.

The North London club have allowed Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli to leave but have purchased only Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. So, Arsenal currently have fewer attacking options than they had last term.

Now, Football Insider state that Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in signing Kofane to bolster the attacking department. Although Leverkusen don’t want to let him leave late in this window, they are prepared to cash-in should they receive a lucrative proposal.

The 20-year-old is valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029. Therefore, the German side are in a strong position to demand a big fee for him.

The report state that Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to buy Kofane, as Chelsea, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are planning to purchase him before the deadline.

Kofane to Arsenal

Kofane is a 6ft 2in tall right-footed striker. Following Jesus’ departure, Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres as striker options.

Gyokeres was purchased from Sporting CP to address the No.9 position, but he has been struggling to break into Mikel Arteta’s side lineup this season. The Spanish boss has preferred the German, but the former Chelsea man has had fitness problems in recent months.

Kofane has enjoyed a promising start this season, scoring twice in as many matches. He is a talented player and possesses high potential. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually opt to reinforce the frontline by purchasing him.
