Arsenal agree personal terms with Roma’s Manu Kone
Arsenal have reportedly agreed on personal terms with AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone, as per Italian outlet Corriere della Sera.
Since moving to Stadio Olimpico from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach a couple of years ago, the 25-year-old has established himself as an undisputed starter.
Last season, he showcased his qualities in Serie A, making five goal contributions in 29 appearances. Moreover, the midfielder has helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in the league.
Kone’s recent promising performances have been rewarded by Didier Deschamps with a call-up to the France national team for this summer’s World Cup.
Now, while citing and translating the print version of Corriere della Sera, Sport Witness report that after being impressed by the Frenchman, Arsenal are showing serious interest in signing him.
The Gunners have already agreed on personal terms with the player and are preparing to launch a formal proposal soon to finalise the operation. Roma have found themselves in financial trouble despite qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition.
So, they need to raise funds by selling stars before June 30. They have slapped a £43m price tag on Kone’s head, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. However, the Giallorossi might even be open to accepting a proposal of around £39m.
Kone to Arsenal
The report state that Kone initially wanted to join Paris Saint-Germain; as a result, he rejected a move to Atletico Madrid. However, Les Parisiens haven’t made a concrete approach to secure his service.
Kone is a 6ft 1in tall right-footed dynamic midfielder. He is comfortable playing in the defensive midfield and box-to-box roles. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, and is also efficient in defensive contributions.
Kone is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Moreover, he possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.
So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to bolster the midfield department by purchasing Kone this summer.
