Arsenal eyeing move for PSG starlet Emmanuel Mbemba
Arsenal are plotting a swoop to sign highly rated France U19 centre-back Emmanuel Mbemba from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to The Athletic.
PSG have produced some of the most exciting French youngsters who have gone on to make their mark in several clubs across Europe.
In Luis Enrique’s squad, Senny Mayulu, Ibrahim Mbaye and Warren Zaire-Emery are currently making part of the first-team setup, while the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Arnaud Kalimuendo are some of the youngest players making waves outside the French capital.
The next name that could follow the trend is Mbemba, who is currently making waves in the academy ranks.
The 18-year-old joined PSG’s academy from Melun FC Youth in 2023 and has been a mainstay in the team. He led the club’s U19 side to French Youth Cup success this season, having previously played a key role in the club’s French Cup success in the 2024-25 season.
While he is comfortable playing at centre-back, it is at left-back that his performances have caught the attention of Arsenal, who have utilised a similar profile on the left side of their defence over the last two seasons.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have held internal talks over the potential transfer of Mbemba to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Exciting prospect
With the France U19 international’s contract at the Parc des Princes set to run out at the end of the month, the Gunners are evaluating whether to match his salary demands, as per the report.
Since Andrea Berta took over as sporting director, Arsenal have balanced their focus between improving the first-team squad and accelerating the recruitment of elite young talent, with several highly rated prospects already added to the club’s academy system.
In the meantime, the North London club moved quickly to secure Colombian twins Edwin Quintero and Holger Quintero while also strengthening their youth structure by adding Jaden Dixon and Evan Mooney.
Last campaign, Mikel Arteta continued to show faith in the brightest products of the Hale End academy, with Max Dowman, Marli Solomon, Andre Harriman-Annous, Ife Ibrahim, Brando Bailey-Joseph, and Marli Salmon all earning their first senior appearances this season.
The Gunners are also reportedly ‘in talks’ to sign Leicester City winger Jeremie Monga. Should a deal be agreed for Mbemba, the Gunners will be assembling one of the best pools of young prospects for the future.
