Arsenal eye ambitious swoop to sign Enzo Fernandez

By on May 30, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly planning to launch an ambitious swoop to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, as per Caught Offside.

Since moving to Stamford Bridge from SL Benfica for a huge fee in 2023, the Argentinian international has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, helping his side win the Club World Cup and Conference League.

Although the Blues have displayed below-average performances this season, Fernandez has showcased his qualities, scoring 15 goals and registering seven assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.

Alongside providing his worth in club football, the 25-year-old has enjoyed great success on the international stage with Argentina, winning a Copa America and World Cup.

After growing frustrated with Chelsea’s lack of progress under Todd Boehly’s ownership, Fernandez has expressed a desire to leave. Consequently, his future has become a subject of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in Fernandez and have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop. However, Mikel Arteta is prioritising signing Sandro Tonali to strengthen the engine room.

With Bernardo Silva set to leave this summer, Manchester City are keen on purchasing the South American to bolster the midfield department.

Fernandez to Arsenal

The Citizens are expected to replace Pep Guardiola by appointing Enzo Maresca as the new manager, and Fernandez is open to reuniting with his former boss at the Etihad Stadium.

Apart from Man City, Real Madrid are also in this race, while Fernandez previously expressed his desire to move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

However, with the player’s existing deal set to run until 2032, Chelsea aren’t in any rush to sell him, and Xabi Alonso considers him a key player for the long-term future.

If the West London club are eventually forced to cash-in on him this summer, they have slapped a whopping £110m price tag on his head.

Fernandez is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the middle of the park. He is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, the 25-year-old would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service by overcoming several obstacles.
