Tino Livramento tops Arsenal list of right-back targets for next summer

By on May 12, 2026

Arsenal have identified Newcastle United star Tino Livramento as their primary target to reinforce their defence next summer, according to Sebastien Vidal.

A graduate of Chelsea’s highly regarded Cobham Academy, Livramento left the club for Southampton in 2021. His time at St Mary’s Stadium, however, was severely disrupted by a major knee injury that sidelined him for over a year.

The fullback completed a move to Newcastle in 2023 and has since thrived under Eddie Howe. During that period, he contributed to the club’s historic EFL Cup victory over Liverpool last season, helped the Magpies return to the UEFA Champions League, and has continued to deliver strong performances throughout the current campaign.

This season, he has featured 26 times for Newcastle, operating mainly on the right side while also demonstrating the versatility to play on the opposite flank whenever required.

In recent weeks, reports suggest that Arsenal are looking to reinforce their left-back ranks and have been linked with several options, with Arsenal Station reporting that the north London club have held ‘positive talks’ to sign Livramento.

Primary target

Now, in a new report, French journalist Sebastien Vidal reiterates that the England international remains Arsenal’s primary left-back target for next summer.

Following an impressive season under Eddie Howe at Newcastle this season, the 21-year-old has piqued the Gunners’ interest, who are now looking to sign him next summer, according to the report.

It appears the Premier League leaders are also exploring other options, as Vidal reports that Arsenal are also closely monitoring AS Roma’s Wesley Franca as an alternative target should a move for Livramento fall through.

Livramento appears tailor-made for the tactical demands of Mikel Arteta’s system at the Emirates. The fullback combines explosive speed with strong defensive qualities, particularly in one-against-one situations, while also offering reliability going forward and the flexibility to operate on either flank.

That adaptability closely mirrors Jurriën Timber’s profile, who is equally comfortable on both sides of the defence, making Livramento a strong candidate to compete with the Dutchman if Ben White leaves during the summer window.

However, having proved to be tough negotiators last summer during the Alexander Isak to Liverpool saga, Arsenal won’t have it easy in a move for Livramento, so they will have to submit a significant offer well above his £34m Transfermarkt valuation.
