Arsenal eyeing audacious swoop to sign Tijjani Reijnders from Man City

By on May 9, 2026

Arsenal are closely monitoring Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders ahead of a potential move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, as per CaughtOffside.

After an outstanding campaign with AC Milan that earned him the Serie A Midfielder of the Year honour, Reijnders arrived at City in the summer carrying huge expectations.

Things, however, have not unfolded as anticipated for the 27-year-old, whose influence within the squad has gradually declined over the season.

Since February, Reijnders has steadily fallen down the hierarchy under Pep Guardiola. He has been left unused on the bench in six of his last nine appearances and has not featured in the Premier League since March 14.

That sharp reduction in minutes has naturally fuelled growing speculation surrounding a possible departure during the summer transfer window.

It is worth noting that despite his reduced minutes, the midfielder has netted seven goals and provided eight assists across all competitions, indicating he still has the qualities to make an impact.

It’s no surprise that CaughtOffside reports that Reijnders is attracting keen interest from several clubs, including Arsenal, ahead of the summer.

Audacious swoop

While there’s no certainty the former AZ Alkmaar prodigy will depart the Etihad Stadium, the Gunners are now closely monitoring the Dutchman ahead of the summer, as per the report.

However, should an opportunity present itself, the North Londoners won’t be alone in the race, as the report adds that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on Reijnders.

Arsenal have done business with City in recent years, with both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko arriving in the summer of 2022.

However, both players have endured mixed spells since their arrivals. Zinchenko has now joined Ajax permanently, while Jesus has struggled with recurring injuries, so it would be understandable if there are concerns about a potential move for Reijnders.

That said, the Netherlands international, valued at £51m by Transfermarkt, has shown through his 15 goal contributions this season that, with consistent game time, he could offer Mikel Arteta a profile similar to that of Mikel Merino, who can operate deeper while still offering a constant goal threat further forward.
