Arsenal showing ‘concrete’ interest in Kingsley Coman

Arsenal are reportedly showing a ‘concrete’ interest in signing Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, as per German football expert Christian Falk.

Gabriel Martinelli is the first-choice left-sided forward for the Gunners, and Leandro Trossard is his backup. However, both have had an average campaign this season.

On the other hand, with the Belgian, who will turn 31 this year, set to enter his final year of his current contract, Mikel Arteta’s side are seemingly planning to hire a new left winger as a potential replacement for him.

On Daily Briefing (via Caught Offside), Falk says that Arsenal are showing a ‘concrete’ interest in signing Coman to bolster the frontline and could make a formal approach to secure his service this summer.

Bayern Munich are planning to refresh their attack so they are prepared to cash-in on the Frenchman with his existing deal set to run until 2027. However, Arsenal aren’t alone in this race as Liverpool are also interested in him.

Falk said:

“The bosses[Bayern Munich’s] want fresh blood for the squad. That’s why Kingsley Coman is to be sold. In the meantime, Arsenal’s interest has also become more concrete, and Liverpool also have him on their list.”

Coman is an explosive winger and is comfortable on both flanks. He has won multiple major silverware with the Bavarian club over the years and even guided them to win the Champions League in the 2019/20 season by scoring the winner in the final.

Therefore, signing a player of his pedigree would help Arteta’s side bridge the gap with Liverpool. However, the forward has struggled with injury problems in recent years, so they need to be careful about that before making a move for him.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to lure the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.

Meanwhile, after overcoming Real Madrid’s challenge in the Champions League, Arsenal will face off against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday before taking on Crystal Palace next week.

If Arsenal fail to beat The Tractor Boys and Liverpool win against Leicester City, the Merseyside club will become the English champions this weekend.
