Arsenal eye ambitious swoop to sign Harry Kane
Arsenal are reportedly considering making an ambitious swoop to sign Bayern Munich ace Harry Kane, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After ranking through Tottenham Hotspur’s youth system, the 31-year-old established himself as a legendary figure for the Lilywhites before leaving ahead of last term.
He is the highest scorer in the history of Spurs and also the top scorer in the North London derby. Despite that, Fichajes state that Arsenal are looking to sign him to reinforce the frontline next summer.
The Gunners have established themselves as one of the Premier League’s title contenders but have found it difficult to take the next step and finally win the league.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the striker option of Arsenal but they haven’t been able to showcase their qualities consistently enough to prove that they would be able to help the club achieve their lofty ambitions. Now, both have sustained serious injuries so their season is over.
Kane to Arsenal
Kane is the second-highest scorer in the Premier League just behind Alan Shearer and is currently one of the best strikers in the world. He has continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess for Bayern Munich in recent times as after making 56 goal contributions in all competitions last term, he has scored 29 goals and notched up 10 assists thus far this campaign.
Therefore, the England captain would be an ideal risk-free acquisition for Arsenal to finally win the Premier League title. He reportedly has a £67m release clause in his current contract with Bayern Munich and that can be triggered next summer.
However, the Spanish outlet claim that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in him. So, Arsenal will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal.
In addition to that, Arsenal will have to find a way to persuade Kane to join as he might not want to do that as it would demolish his legendary status at Tottenham, due to the fierce rivalry between the two sides.
It is going to be interesting to see who the North London club eventually hire ahead of next season to strengthen the attacking department.
