Arsenal express interest in signing Bayern Munich star Sane
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, as per transfer journalist Ekrem Konur.
After enjoying a successful spell with Manchester City, the 28-year-old decided to return to his homeland to join the Bavarian club back in 2020. Upon moving to the Allianz Arena, the German has had success, winning multiple major domestic competitions.
However, the forward has now lost his place in the starting eleven under Vincent Kompany this season following Michael Olise’s arrival from Crystal Palace in the last transfer window.
Moreover, Sane has entered the final year of his current contract so his future is currently hanging in balance at the record German champions. Now, writing on X, Konur states that Arsenal are planning to strengthen their attack and are interested in signing Sane in January by taking advantage of his current situation.
Bayern are prepared to let him leave in the winter window to avoid losing him for free at the end of this season and are demanding at least £17m.
Sane to Arsenal
Sane wants a three-year contract with an option to extend the deal for a further year and wants a salary package worth more than £17m-a-year. Therefore, Arsenal will have to splash a large sum to finalise this operation.
The journalist says that Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in the Bayern Munich star as Manchester United, Barcelona and Juventus are also keen on securing his service.
The German has already worked with Mikel Arteta at Man City so the pair already know each other. The forward is a talented player and has already proven his worth at the highest level over the years. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
Bukayo Saka is the only specialist right-winger Arteta has at his disposal therefore, the former Man City star’s addition would add depth to the attack should Arsenal hire him.
However, Sane’s salary demand is looking very steep and it might not be the wisest decision to hire him by matching his demands. But, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in January.
