Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Brighton and Hove Albion star Joao Pedro this summer, as per Football Transfers.
It has widely been reported that the Gunners are considering signing a new striker in this transfer window. They have been linked with numerous names over the last few weeks with Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen being among them. However, they haven’t opted to make a swoop for any one of them.
Now, according to the report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have now registered their interest in signing the Brazilian and they could make a concrete approach over the coming days.
The report further claims that Brighton won’t allow their star man’s departure for cheap if they are forced to cash in and want a fee of around £50m.
After joining the Seagulls from Watford last summer, the 22-year-old enjoyed a productive campaign last term, scoring 20 goals and registering three assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.
Pedro to Arsenal
The Brazilian is a versatile forward as he can play in the centre-forward position as well as the left-wing role but he can also provide cover in the attacking midfield position if needed.
He is a technically gifted player and is efficient in linking up the play. Additionally, the striker has the ability to dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can finish off his chances and is also excellent at taking penalties.
The youngster is a highly talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to play in Mikel Arteta’s system so he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, Brighton like to play hardball to sell their assets therefore it’s always difficult to sign their players. Arsenal have already experienced that during their pursuit of Ben White.
The Gunners signing a new striker is seemingly dependent on outgoings as they already have enough numbers in the centre-forward position having already got Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
Nketiah is expected to be the player leaving the club to make room for the new striker with Olympique de Marseille reportedly closing in on a deal to sign the 25-year-old.
